Welcome to Pro Hunts, the first (more) realistic Cabela’s hunting games.

In Pro Hunts you are guided by top hunting experts around the four regions of America. You start the game with a couple of tutorials where you learn the game and hunting basics and continue with some challenge hunts. Each region has two Pro Slam hunts where, with the help of the experts, you hunt down the biggest trophies.
Beside the Pro and challenge hunts, you also can go by your own on the open hunts. Here, it’s up to you to track and bag the region animals you want.

As for content, the game has a great variety of animal species including ambient animals, which also can be hunted. You have at your disposal a reasonable amount of weapons, ammo and gear, but I would like to see more gear here. The animals models and dynamics kinda resemble others Cabela’s BGH games (some animals seem like that they have been imported from other games) and they do look better in the intros than in the game itself, nonetheless they’re good. The weapons ballistics is also good, and the new bullet flight / shot view really scores for this game.

The hunting regions are bigger, indeed, than any previous Cabela’s games and the scenarios look a lot more realistic, but comparing with other(s) hunting game(s) out there I think they could have done better. Some textures seem realistic but kinda low resolution.

As for gameplay and dynamics, Pro Hunts resembles Hunting Expeditions.
You have the Pro Hunts and Challenge hunts, where you have goals to meet, and then you can hunt on your own in the open hunts. Even when you finish the other hunts and/or the game you can still do the open hunts and try to bag monster trophies.
In the terrain, you can track the animals, use the calls to lure them in and use some fixed hunting spots like stands and blinds. The animals have a decent AI and in game they follow a fixed routine, making it easy to lay down a hunting plan.

Overall, Cabela’s (Activision/Cauldron) really did a great job here and I hope that Cabela’s keeps going in this direction, kudos on them!
For me, unlike other Cabela’s games where once finished there wasn’t much to do, this game is really a keeper!
